 Dear Members,
On Sunday the 16th of September 2007 Sokol Melbourne Inc. held its Annual General Meeting where elections for the new committee of management took place. During (and after) the election process several discrepancies in the voting process as well as the vote counts were found and as a result a new committee could not be officially established on the day.
Due to the fact that a new committee was not appointed at the AGM, as per the rules of Sokol Melbourne Inc, the old committee (2006/07) remains officially in charge until a new committee is elected.
The committee has reviewed the election process and due to discrepancies in voting results as well as the inaccuracy of the whole voting process administered by the election sub-committee, the AGM & voting have been deemed invalid. The election subcommittee which was formed to assist with the election sabotaged the whole process and prevented a re-count of votes.
It has therefore been decided (as per legal advice) that a new AGM will take place, and we are currently looking at engaging an outside body to manage the new elections, to prevent any tampering with results. You will receive instructions on how the new elections will proceed as soon as all negotiations are finalized.
We apologize for the delay this will cause in the election of the new committee, but in view of what has happened at the AGM it is the only way to deal with this situation and ensure fair and proper results.
