Sokol Melbourne Inc. is a vibrant non-profit community organisation with a proud Czech and Slovak heritage. Founded in the 1970s, we are based at the historic Národnà dům (National House) at 497 Queensberry Street, North Melbourne.

Sokol Melbourne Inc. is a vibrant non-profit community organisation with a proud Czech and Slovak heritage. Our club is run entirely by volunteers and continues to bring people together through food, culture, music, and friendship.
Bohemian Tavern Lunches and Dinners
Czech food and beer
Come and enjoy traditional Czech and Slovak cuisine, real Czech beer on tap, plus traditional hospitality in Bohemian Tavern.
The upstairs dining room, designed in the style of a medieval hall, offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
There are regular monthly Sunday lunches, as well as selected Friday evening dinners, where you can enjoy Czech beer on tap and experience traditional hospitality.




Concert and Dance Hall
Live music and theatre shows
Our building features a beautiful dance hall and stage for concerts, live music, theatre, or community presentations.
With flexible layouts and a fully licensed bar, the hall is also available for hire.


In the past, Sokol Melbourne hosted concerts of some of the famous Czech artists, as well as theatrical shows for children.
Kvart Magazine
Sokol Melbourne also publishes Kvart magazine in the Czech language, released six times a year.
Free for members, $20 fee for non-members (to cover print and postage).

Library – Re-opening Soon
An extensive library of Czech-language books, suitable for both adults and children, is available to Sokol Melbourne club members.
